Shocking details are emerging on social media according to which Wagner PMC is attempting a coup in Russia. The social media platforms are rife with viral videos showing Wagner troops moving further into the Russian mainland.
According to a report “Russian generals late on Friday accused Yevgeny Prigozhin, the outspoken mercenary tycoon, of trying to mount a coup against President Vladimir Putin”. The Russian officials have opened an investigation against Wagner head for “organising an armed rebellion”.
Wagner Launches Coup in Russia?
The Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin began the rebellion after claiming Russian missiles killed several hundreds of his troops in an air strike in Ukraine.
According to several claims, Wagner troops have already overtaken a Russian Military building in Rostov city.
According to RT, a Russian State Media, “The Russian Defense Ministry has accused PMC Wagner head Evgeny Prigozhin of spreading falsehoods”.
“All messages and video distributed on social networks on behalf of [Evgeny] Prigozhin about the alleged strike by the [Russian military] on the camps of PMC Wagner in the rear areas do not correspond to reality and are an informational provocation,” the Russian ministry stated.
Social Media Heated With Coup in Russia
A Twitter user wrote, “There’s a coup attempt happening now in Russia and I can’t find any US news channel that is reporting on it. Anderson Cooper is in Newfoundland. MSNBC is obsessed with Trump 24/7”.
Another wrote, “The Wagner Group launches audacious operation, storming Russian Defense Ministry HQ in Rostov”.
As of now, no official statement has come from Russian President Vladimir Putin on the Coup by Wagner. More details are being awaited in the matter.
