After the Nuh incident, communal tensions are once again running high in Mewat after a Hindu yatra was attacked in Rajasthan’s Alwar, which also falls in the Mewat region. The Mewat region encompasses parts of Haryana and Rajasthan. The group of devotees were on the way from Ramgarh to Khatu Shyam temple.
On the way, the bus driver was attacked by a group, who tore the posters on the vehicle.
Hindu Yatra Attacked in Alwar
The bus driver was beaten badly by the unidentified group.
The matter did not escalate then because the devotees were walking 500m behind the bus. The incident could have flared up if the devotees were present on the bus. However, after the incident, the situation became tense in the neighbouring area.
The devotees have registered a case in the Ramgarh thana, and as of now, police have arrested two individuals.
Hindu Yatra Attacked Just After 4 Kilometres
According to a report, “The Padyatra bus that left for Khatu Dham in the morning from Ramgarh was attacked by a group between Piprauli and Nadka villages, 4 km away”.
Retired Soldier Nabbed One Culprit
According to the information, only the driver and a retired soldier were present on the bus during the attack.
The assailants attacked the bus. With an intent to hurt sentiments, the accused tore posters and banners on the bus. Not only this, the banners were trampled by the accused to hurt religious sentiments.
However, the retired soldier present on the bus caught one of the attackers. Later he was handed over to the police.
Communal Tensions Again in Mewat
Mewat is a historical region, spreading to parts of Haryana and Rajasthan. It includes Hathin tehsil and Nuh district of Haryana while several districts of Rajasthan such as Alwar.
The Mewat region of Haryana recently witnessed communal tensions after a Shobha yatra was attacked by Islamists in Nuh.
Nuh Violence
On Monday, 31 July 2023, a Shobha Yatra carried out by VHP was attacked in the Nuh district of Haryana.
At least four people, including two home guards, were killed and around twelve police personnel were reported to be injured in the violence. The injuries were allegedly sustained from the gunshots and stone pelting.
As previously reported by The Pamphlet, the incident was a well-pre-planned conspiracy. The VHP was conducting its annual Shobha Yatra from Nalhad Mahadev Temple which was to be concluded at Shringar Temple, Punhana. However, members of the Muslim community resorted to stone pelting, attacked the procession and even set the vehicles on fire.
Multiple FIRs were filed in the Nuh violence. Some of the FIRs that were accessed by The Pamphlet revealed how a mob comprising 800-900 individuals attacked the temple while chanting Allahu Akbar and Pakistan Zindabad.
Quoting FIR number-401/2023, “At around 5.30 PM, around 800-900 miscreants chanting ‘Allah Hu Akbar’ started throwing bricks and stones at the passengers staying in the temple premises with the intention to kill them”.
An FIR (number-252/2023) dated 1 August was registered at the Nuh City police station by Inspector Pankaj Kumar.
Kumar states, “Where my fellow Inspector Anil Kumar, in-charge Crime Branch Sector 40 Gurugram was also posted with me at the same place Adbar Chowk along with his fellow colleagues faced a mob of 600/700 fierce antisocial people from Tawdu side who raised slogans of Alha Hu Akbar, about. They were pelting stones towards the police force stationed at the Chowk”.
Conclusion
According to the latest information, the situation is calm in Alwar. However, the Congress government in Rajasthan might be feeling the pressure on law and order, especially as State elections are to be held the next year.
