Post-2014, India has woken up from a deep slumber to a realisation of its consciousness. The realisation of its consciousness has resulted from the BJP coming to power under PM Modi. The pre-Modi era has been a witness to India’s glory being curtailed and being undermined to the extent of the age-old civilization almost losing touch with its roots. Bharat’s collective consciousness rooted deeply in the tenets, values and principles of Sanatan Dharma saw well-coordinated efforts being undertaken to reduce Bharat’s heritage to an inferior position.
Bharat was offered with an adulterated history by historians empowered by politicians & leaders having petty selfish political ambitions. Bharat was forced to ‘rethink’ and thereby forget its real history. Mughals were portrayed as heroes, who had made unparalleled contributions to India’s growth and without whom India would’ve been poor, barbaric and uncivilized. The intention as it seems was to replace Indian glorious history with the invaders and make them look noble. Historians ensured that the invaders were more Indian than the original rulers of India. Indians looking at India with pride & assertions of every sort regarding India’s ancient ancestry were called names. There were strong attempts to distance Bharatiyas from their original identity.
India wasn’t seen from the Indian lens but an ‘ecosystem’ worked to view Bharat, its people, its history, its future, its problems & its civilisation from a lens other than Indian. Western theories were unleashed upon India; Bharat & its people had to suffer. But it looks as if the political dispensation had given a free hand to these people, who chose their particular ideology over the nation’s growth. National interests were undermined. National identity or Bharatiya collective consciousness survived all these attacks and stood strongly amidst the chaos of corruption and terrorist attacks that shook the nation between 2004-2014.
The quest for a Nationalistic identity grew in 2014 when PM Modi took over the reins of the nation. The civilisation’s story has been rewritten since then. From the historic Ram Mandir being constructed, the consecration of Bhagwan Shri Ram Lalla in the Garbha-griha of the Mandir to redevelopments of sacred temples across the country, the nation seems to get closer to its identity. The nation has been reminded of great leaders, Kings and rulers of the nation; From Maharana Pratap, Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Chattrapati Sambhaji Maharaj to Krishnadevaraya, Bharat is reestablishing its history and erasing the adulterated & manipulated ‘versions’ of history.
The construction of the new parliament building and its opening last year witnessed the installation of the ‘Holy Sengol’ that had been forgotten and was being considered as the walking stick of the former PM Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. The Sengol was originally used to symbolically represent the transfer of power from the British to the Indians in 1947. This ceremony was inspired by the Chola-era ceremony. It took Bharat over 60 years to realise the real identity of Bharat. The reason was more or less the Western mindset adopted by those in power & the way they considered India with everything other than the ancient history.
When history was created & India became the first country in the world to touch down near the lunar south pole. India was the fourth country to successfully land on moon. PM Modi named the the landing site of Chandrayaan 3 as Shiv Shakti point. This also was in line with the Bharatiya civilisation. The resonance of our ancient heritage, of our civilisation, that had lost its way to its people, is now being heard not just from the realms of the country but from outside as well. Before PM Modi, there were some people who hesitated in practising their culture or stating about the civilisation but PM Modi’s faith in Bharat’s culture, its Gods & Goddesses has inspired so many to come out of the unwarranted hesitation & feel proud of being a Bharatiya.
In the times we live, there are perspectives of every sort that also tend up to question, “What has PM Modi done for the civilisation?” The only answer that is apt is that the collective consciousness of Bharat has been awakened by PM Modi himself. That which had lost its way, has finally been redirected to the real path. Those who wished to harm the nation under the garb of “Union of states” have been reminded that Bharat is a civilization more than anything; To those who termed Sanatana Dharma as “malaria, dengue” & called for its eradication, have been shown that Sanatan Dharma will remain till the end of time.
It’ll be right if only we, as citizens take pride in our civilisation, our culture and elude from the clutches of western theories that fail to understand the basic tenet of Bharatiya civilisation.
