At least four Pakistani soldiers were killed and 10 others were injured in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s North and South Waziristan.
At least three soldiers were killed in an armed attack on military vehicles in South Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. An official of the intelligence agency in the region said that the incident took place on July 9 in the Khamrang area of lower South Waziristan, in which 10 soldiers were injured in an exchange of fire with militants.
On the other hand, the Public Relations Department of the Pakistan Army said in a press release on July 9 that an army captain was killed in a clash with militants in North Waziristan on the same day. The statement adds that two militants were also killed during the shoot out.
In addition to this, Abdul Salam Khalid, Chief of Police of Tank District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said on July 9th that militants had kidnapped three soldiers from Kot Azam in the Gomal area of this district.
So far, no group has accepted responsibility for these three incidents.
This is when the central government of Pakistan decided to launch a new military operation against the militants in the country in June this year.
Recently, armed attacks on Pakistani security forces have increased in various areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with local people having held mass demonstrations, meetings and jirgas against the ongoing insecurity.
