27 people have been arrested in Surat over the stone pelting incident at a Ganesh Pandal on Sunday. Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi, took to X to inform that strict action will be taken against the accused and CCTV footage and other video surveillance is being carried out.

According to reports, in Sayedpura area of Surat, stones were pelted, mostly by children following which communal clashes broke out. The children were quickly taken away by police and extra forces were deployed. As of now, 6 people who were pelting stones and 27 others who were encouraging the stonepelters have been arrested.
Later on Sunday evening, state home minister Sanghvi, along with team of Surat police and the organisers of the pandal where the stonepelting incident took place, performed the Ganpati Aarti and Puja.

Meanwhile, in Madhya Pradesh’s Ratlam, too, Ganesh Procession was attacked. Stones were pelted on the procession on Saturday night in the Mochipura area. Police vehicle was also damaged in the attack. As of now, the situation is currently under control as per police.
